Attending: Len, Gale, Vicki, Alta, Tjalling, Alison and Carolyn
Secretary’s minutes and Treasurer’s report were reviewed and approved. Gale presented the 1st through 3rd quarter 2002 financial report.
Membership report: Alta reported there are 585 members and 398 newsletters are being mailed.
Race Director Liaison: Tjalling presented the race calendar for 2003. He asked about guidelines for race fees charged to non-members. Most races are $5 for adults and $3 for 18 and under, but fees are at the discretion of the race director and/or sponsor.
Recent Runs: The Barkley Autumn Trail Run had 25% more participants this year. Next year Whatcom Hospice will sponsor the Barkley run instead of the Maritime run held in August. The Barkley run will not be a GBRC event.
Upcoming Runs: Terry Thalhofer has a new co-director, Jeannie VanCorbach, for the Honeywagon runs in March. Sharon Ensslen needs a co-director for the Two for the Road run in February.
Equipment Manager: Retiring manager Rick Libsack was not present but advised a biannual inventory of race supplies by the incoming manager.
Events/Activities: Alison reported the Holiday Party was set for December 8, 4:30 pm at the WECU Education Building on Holly Street. The club will supply pizza, salad, dessert and drinks. Club officers for 2003 will be elected at this meeting.
Old Business: Sun Mountain Lodge gift certificates were given to volunteer cross-country coaches Craig Bartlett and James Hayes.
Len presented the proposed 2003 operating budget. We face a deficit of over $3000 next year and, as a result, dues and non-member race fees will be increased for 2004. Dues for 2004 will be $20-single, $30-couple, $40-family, $12-youth, and $12-newletter only. Each year’s dues are good for 13 months (Dec 1 to Dec 31 of the next year). Half year’s dues (after June 1, 2003) will rise to $15-single, $25-couple, $35-family, $9-youth and $9-newsletter. Suggested non-member race fees are $8-adult and $4-youth.
New Business: Christy telephoned in that the 2002 officers have agreed to serve next year. Kristin Moore and Polly Favinger are at-large nominees.
Len relayed that Joel Pearson wants club support for the Footlocker High School Race participants. He would like $500 and a race to raise money. No vote was taken and discussion will continue at the next board meeting.
Newsletter deadline: January 15.
Action Items: Len will recruit a non-board member to audit our books.
Next Meeting: January 27, 7PM, Cascade Natural Gas office on Iowa Street. All members are welcome to attend.
