Join GBRC for the 8th Padden Mudfest

Sunday November 7, 2010 10:00 am

The Padden Mudfest is a 7 mile trail race taking place on wooded single track trails in Lake Padden Park in Bellingham. This race is unique in offering some of the muddy conditions and challenging hill climbs often only found in ultra runs. If you like trails, mud, and hills, give this run a try.

Changes for 2009

There are a couple of changes to the race and the course starting in 2009. These are:

  1. There is no ‘early start’ for slower runners; all participants will start at the same time.
  2. The out-and-back at the west end of the course used last year (which had runners turn around 180 degrees at the fence) has been replaced by extending the first loop: follow the old course to the fence; there turn right 90 degrees and follow the winding downhill trail to the main Padden lakeside trail just above the outlet creek bridge; there turn sharp right to go uphill and rejoin the previous course at the next junction. See the map for details.

Registration

Online registration is available starting about the first of October until 2 days before the race. Please use this registration link. Day of race registration is also available starting at 8:45am.

Cost: $10.00 for non-GBRC members, Free for GBRC members.

Course Description

Padden Mudfest course The course is a little bit short of 7 miles in length. The race begins and ends at the softball fields at the east end of the park (near the basketball court and covered areas), and will be run almost entirely on the horse trails above the lake. It is a very hilly course with the exciting potential for muddy and sloppy conditions. View the map of the course.

Note about Footwear: This course will be hilly and will likely be muddy, so trail shoes or shoes with aggressive tread are highly recommended. Due to the rocky nature of the course in places, spikes would not be recommended.

Aid Stations: There will be one aid station with water located at roughly the halfway point of the race.

Baby joggers and dogs are not allowed on the course

Directions to the Race
